Written and directed by Qian Yanqiu, the series starred Liang Guanhua as the titular protagonist, and was first broadcast on CCTV-8 on 6 August 2004. The series was followed by three sequels: Amazing Detective Di Renjie 2, Amazing Detective Di Renjie 3, and Amazing Detective Di Renjie 4.

Season 2 of Amazing Detective Di Renjie premiered on November 20, 2006.

Amazing Detective Di Renjie 2, also known as Shen Tan Di Renjie 2, is the second installment in a four-season Chinese television series based on detective stories related to Di Renjie, a Tang Dynasty magistrate and statesman. Written and directed by Qian Yanqiu, the series starred Liang Guanhua as the titular protagonist, and was first broadcast on CCTV-8 on 20 November 2006, two years after the first season. It was followed by Amazing Detective Di Renjie 3 in 2008, and Amazing Detective Di Renjie 4 in 2010.

Amazing Detective Di Renjie 3, also known as Shen Tan Di Renjie 3, is the third installment in a four-season Chinese television series based on detective stories related to Di Renjie, a Tang Dynasty magistrate and statesman. Written by Qian Yanqiu and directed by Qian and Zhang Wenling, the series starred Liang Guanhua as the titular protagonist, and was first broadcast on CCTV-8 on 15 March 2008, two years after the second season. It was followed by Amazing Detective Di Renjie 4 in 2010.

Amazing Detective Di Renjie 4, also known as Shen Duan Di Renjie, is the fourth installment in a four-season Chinese television series based on detective stories related to Di Renjie, a Tang Dynasty magistrate and statesman. Written and directed by Qian Yanqiu, the series starred Liang Guanhua as the titular protagonist, and was first broadcast on CCTV-8 in 2010, two years after the third season.

Season 5 of Amazing Detective Di Renjie premiered on March 22, 2017.
